We don't always, but sure enjoyed learning some interesting facts as we strolled down to the Cape Reinga Lighthouse. The peninsula, referred to as Te Rerenga Wairua by the Maori, is one of their most spiritual locations. Upon death, it is believed that the spirit of the deceased departs from earth at the Cape enroute to their afterlife.
