A Visit to Capernaum is a Trip Back in Religious Times

What eventually became an abandoned fishing village on the shore of the Sea of Galilee, Capernaum is now a popular tourist attraction. It was in a synagogue in Capernaum where Jesus frequently could be heard spreading his message. Ruins of Capernaum were discovered many centuries later and included both the House of Peter (where some of the miracles of Jesus were performed) and the synagogue.

What historical places have you read about and later had a desire to visit?

For many who have read the Bible, Capernaum is one of those places. (Capernaum is frequently mentioned in the New Testament.) The city, home to a synagogue and the House of Peter, was quite crowded during our recent visit!

Have you planned a trip based on a book that you have read?
