Step Back in Time as You Wander About Old Town Chania

Of the 227 Greek Islands which are inhabited, the island of Crete is both the largest and has the highest population. Sometimes referred to as the "Venice of the East", Chania is on the island's northwestern coast and is the second biggest city. Although Chania is best known for its harbour, visitors will find plenty of shopping and dining plus interesting Venetian and Turkish architecture and history.

Where is your favorite "Old Town"?

Although Chania Old Town on Greece's island of Crete didn't make our favorites list, maybe we will be more impressed if we have a chance to return. Due to renovations, we were unable to see some highly recommended places including the Municipal Market Building (Agora). A couple of churches that we did get to enter had beautiful interiors.

Make sure to come back tomorrow to see our favorite part of the city - the harbour!

Do you have a favorite Old Town?
