All in an Afternoon at Chobe National Park

A game drive in Chobe National Park has a completely different feel from drives in Tanzania's national parks. It's the roads created of sands from the Kalahari plus the Chobe River that are credited for much of the difference. As you would expect, hippos and crocodiles are usually found on the riverfront, but that's not all. A game drive through the park will also probably include sightings of elephants, buffalo, lions, zebras, impalas, baboons, giraffes and more.

After eight days on safari in Tanzania, we didn't realize how unique our experience would be at Botswana's Chobe National Park. We were in good hands with our guide Alec who expertly navigated the sandy roads within the park. The ever present water of the Chobe River makes for an environment that animals can call their home year round. Among other sightings, in just a few hours during our first afternoon, we spotted plenty of giraffes, waterbucks (even babies), mongoose, elephants, impalas, Nile crocodiles, baboons and hippos!
