Changing of the Guard at Amalienborg Palace

No matter the weather, the guards at Amalienborg Palace change each day at noon. They march from their barracks near Rosenborg Castle, through the streets of Copenhagen and on to the grounds at Amalienborg Palace to relieve the guards currently on duty. Although their uniform has changed throughout the years, they've been wearing blue trousers for nearly 200 years!

We've explored Copenhagen several times - before, during and after cruises. Only during one of our visits did we catch the changing of the guard at Amalienborg Palace. We weren't actually at the palace, but we caught them on their march from their barracks to the palace. It's quite a popular event - everyone is trying to capture the perfect photo!
