Curious Domed Church Seen From Venice Island

Destinations | Venice | Italy | Streets | Grand Canal | Churches | Santa Maria della Salute
Seen from the sidewalk, the church with the spectacular dome is the Santa Maria della Salute, sometimes
just called the Salute. This is a Catholic Church and has been a signature edifice in the Venice skyline since
1681. Curiously, we have been to Venice a number of times and love exploring the streets, but we have not
ventured across the Grand Canal to see the inside of this church. Did you know that the city state of Venice
was the world's first democracy?

I have enjoyed photographing this outstanding domed church from the sidewalk in front of the Doges Palace
and near St. Marks Square in Venice. #venice #churches #salute #dogespalace #stmarks #gelato
