Similar to a snowboard, a sandboard takes its rider down a sand dune rather than a snow bank. It's the rider's choice on how they want to glide down the dune - standing, sitting or even laying down! Since sand is a requirement, sandboarding is most popular near beaches or deserts with dunes. (Another big difference is that while most snow skiing reseorts have lifts, most deserts or beaches do not!). The Lahbab Desert (sometimes referred to as the Red Dune Desert) is a popular place for the sport in Dubai.

The good news was that after dune bashing, we were at the top of a sand dune - no need to climb up for sandboarding! (Well, that is until we sandboarded down - LOL!)
If you're twenty-two, physically fit, hungry to learn and be better, I urge you to travel - as far and as widely as possible. Sleep on floors if you have to. Find out how other people live and eat and cook. Learn from them - wherever you go. - Anthony Bourdain
