United States | Puerto Rico | El Morro Castle | Fortress | Castillo San Felipe del Morro | Pirates | National Monuments
Formally known as the Castillo San Felipe del Morro, this fortress was built by the Spanish in the 16th through 18th centuries. It is really amazing to see large fortresses like El Morro in the new world. Resources were much more limited than they are today, but the Spanish colonials were still able to build amazing structures!

We've had the opportunity to visit Puerto Rico both on a land vacation and on a cruise. During both visits, we took the time to explore El Morro. It's truly an amazing fortress with many areas to explore and think about life so many years ago.
