Puerto Rico | San Juan | El Morro Castle | Castles | Fortresses | Castillo San Felipe del Morro | What to see
Built between 1539 and 1790, Castillo San Felipe del Morro is located in San Juan, Puerto Rico. El Morro Castle was originally built to defend and protect the island. Today, the fortress is both a UNESCO heritage site and a United States National Park.
During one of our visits, we stumbled upon an awe inspiring view. The fortress wall, the green bastion top and the deep blue sea made for a dreamy and romantic site to see!

What are your favorite sites in Puerto Rico?
I am still amazed at how early explorers were able to source materials and work effort to build some of the monumental structures that still stand today. We have visited Puerto Rico's El Morro several times, and each time we are still impressed with the fortress. It is over 230 years old and still stands tall over the bay!
