Sandboarding Adventures at Giant Te Paki Sand Dunes

Adventure enthusiasts of all ages will want to plan time at the Giant Te Paki Sand Dunes near the northern tip of New Zealand's north island. Less than 30 minutes from the Cape Reinga Lighthouse, you'll see sand boards available for rent as you near the dunes as well as in the dune parking lot. Even those who are less adventuresome will enjoy a walk on the dunes (and watching others as they take to the sand)!

Where have you gone sandboarding?

Even though we didn't have the time to actually sandboard, we loved our stop at the Giant Te Paki Sand Dunes. Rising almost 500 feet high, the dunes are a not-to-be-missed sight. (We did take off our shoes so that we could walk the path, cross the stream and walk partway up. Such fun to watch others ride!)
