Open between 9:00 AM and 6:00 PM, visitors to Granville Public Market will find a variety of food items (fresh and cooked), gifts, handcrafted items and souvenirs. Whether you want to purchase a meal to eat onsite or bring fresh ingredients home to cook them with your own twist, you'll find plenty of choices. Walking tours of the market are a popular way for visitors to learn about the offerings while enjoying some samples along the way. The island on which the market is situated is also home to a hotel, marina, restaurants, studios for artists and theaters.

We struck out finding a place for dinner at one of Vancouver's markets, but not this one! Granville Island Public Market did not disappoint when it came to our meal. It's a good thing that we listened to the announcements because the market now closes at 6:00 PM. We didn't have much time to dilly dally around, but we did find good sandwiches and a perfect outdoor table. Next time we'll make sure to save time for dessert!
Fun fact: Granville island was the location where the finale was shot for the 2011 film Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol!
