Hiking with Sheep on Urupukapuka Island in Bay of Islands

The only way to get to Urupukapuka Island is by boat or ferry or some other water vessel. Some people spend multiple days camping (either in tents or on their boats moored in one of the bays), others spend multiple hours and probably most spend less than two hours and wish they had more time. Hiking the entire perimeter reportedly takes about 5 hours, but other options are kayaking, relaxing on the beaches, or taking in the views from above (surrounded by sheep)!

Where was your most recent memorable hike?

We only had a little over an hour during our stop at Otehei Bay - just enough time for a short hike on Urupukapuka Island. We looked at the trail options, but all I could focus on were the sheep all over the hillside. Scott agreed to hike up for a view, and to let me get closer to the sheep. Love these sheep ... and the ice cream treats that we had afterwards were delicious sweets!

Where have you hiked recently?
