Urquhart Castle Watches Over the Mysterious Loch Ness

Although we tried to keep an eagle eye open for anything peculiar going on in the lake, we did not see the monster on our visit to Loch Ness! We enjoyed a boat trip around the lake as well as our chance to explore the ruins of Urquhart Castle. Even though it has degraded over the years, the site is nice. It was especially interesting to see how the castle was designed and to experience its imposing position and view over the lake.

Is there really a Loch Ness monster?

Stacy really wanted to see Nessie, so we took a cruise through Loch Ness during our port day in Invergordon / Inverness, Scotland. Although we had no luck spotting the popular monster (other than a couple of pretty good sculptures), we did have fun exploring Urquhart Castle. Scott loved getting a close up view of a full scale trebuchet on display at the castle, plus the views of the loch were second to none. Even without seeing Nessie, it was definitely a day well spent!
