An Avenue of Sphinxes led from the Karnak area to the Luxor Temple. It is believed that construction of the Luxor Temple was completed in stages over the course of nearly 1,700 years. The temple was started by Amenhotep III, and then King Tut, Horemheb and Rameses II all added to it. In addition to being used for religious services during the ancient Egyptian times, the temple has been in near continuous use and for people with a variety of religious beliefs.

Social Media Description

Our last stop in Luxor on the east bank of the Nile River was Luxor Temple.

Fun fact: The east bank of the Nile is associated with "life". All of the ancient Egyptian structures located east of the river were enjoyed during the "living years" of the kings, pharoahs, etc.
