Roman Theater and Alcazaba Castle: A Perfect Pair in Malaga

Located in the center of Malaga, the Alcazaba Castle and Roman Theater are easy to find and can be explored in conjunction with one another. Surprisingly, the remains of the theater were first discovered in 1951. It is thought that construction of the theater began during the first century under the rule of Emperor Augustus. The Alcazaba, towering over the theater (and the city), were most probably built as many as 1000 years later.

Social Media Description

How do you choose where to spend your time during a port day?

We always spend lots of time researching before we leave home. We usually try to plot way too many points on a digital map (usually maps.me) and then create a route that we think will make the best use of our time. Of course, when we only have one day in a port city, we have to decide which places are most important because we know that there will be no way to see everything.

These steps worked perfectly in Malaga - we had enough time to "see" almost everything on our list. When we return, we now know that we'll want to explore both the Alcazaba and Roman Theater!

Do you have a trip planning process that works well for you?
