With a total of 90 passenger cabins accommodating a maximum of 174 guests, the MS Monarch Queen is operated by Gate 1 Travel. Although the river boat can sometimes be found in the Netherlands or sailing a longer itinerary, the ship most often travels along the Danube River. The seven day itineraries typically depart from Budapest, Hungary and sail to Regensberg, Germany and back again.

Now that the holidays are behind us and we have officially started a new year, we'll return to daily posts from our Danube River cruise aboard the MS Monarch Queen. I was pleasantly surprised with the vessel's public areas, our accommodations, the staff and tours. Although Gate 1 advertises "More of the World For Less", our experience was not significantly different from a previous river cruise on a bigger name brand.
