Camel Ride Through a Desert Palm Grove near Marrakech
Fill a free afternoon in Marrakech with a ride out to Palmeraie, a palm grove just a short drive from the city. Upon arriving, you'll be given a traditional Moroccan gandora (a long tunic to wear over your clothes). After wrapping your head with a cheich (headscarf), it will be time to get situated on the back of one of the local camels. Led by a local, you'll be riding camelback while meandering through the trails of Palmeraie. (In addition to some junk and trash, you'll see some local residences and, of course, palm trees!)

We spent our last afternoon in Marrakech on a short camel ride at Palmeraie, a palm grove just outside of town.
Legend has it that soldiers stationed at a former military camp often discarded pits from dates onto the ground of what is now a palm grove. Through the years, what once were pits are now fully grown palm trees!
