We came upon this amazing piece of street art strolling near the waterfront in Funchal, Madeira while waiting to pick up our rental car. We saw a similar creation in Sweden back in 2016.
Interesting fact: "Mero" is another name for the "Atlantic Goliath Grouper", an endangered species. The sculpture, "Plastic Mero", was created out of trash found in the ocean. Trash like this is one of the reasons that the species is endangered today.
