The smaller of the two temples at Abu Simbel honors Queen Nefertari, often referred to as the favorite of the wives of King Ramses II. Also dedicated to Hathor, the goddess of love and music, the temple stands just steps away from the Great Temple of Ramses II. On each side of the queen's temple entrance stand three large statues - a statue of Queen Nefertari between two statues of King Ramses II. Smaller statues of their children also stand with their parents.
