Hike from Akrotiri to Santorini's Red Beach

The Santorini Village of Akrotiri is home to one of the island's most popular beaches, Red Beach. Getting to the southwest part of the island is easy for cruise ship travelers - just hop on the city bus! Much like the nearby Prehistoric Village of Akrotiri, the sandy beach and surrounding volcanic rocks were created by volcanic eruptions. It is said that the surrounding waters make for some interesting snorkeling.

What snorkeling or dive sites are on your bucket list?

I'm hoping that we will have the opportunity to snorkel in some more international waters before our snorkeling years come to an end. After hearing about the snorkeling at Red Beach in Santorini, it made my list of places I want to snorkel next time we are on a Mediterranean cruise.

Although we rode the bus and hiked the short distance to Red Beach in October, we didn't have enough time (or snorkel gear) to hit the waters.
