Two of the ways to reach Santuario di Madonna di San Luca from central Bologna include a 2 1/2 mile walk along the Portico di San Luca or a ride on a tourist train. The San Luca Express departs from Bologna's Piazza Maggiore and travels through the city up to the sanctuary. Tickets for the 40 minute ride do sell out, so it's a good idea to either arrive early or buy your tickets in advance.
