Game Drive in Tanzania's Serengeti National Park

Have you ever wondered why some people refer to "safaris" and others talk about "game drives"? A game drive is actually an activity inside of a safari itinerary. For example, you may go on a week-long safari during which you will participate in activities that might include hiking, meals, morning and/or afternoon game drives in hopes of seeing wildlife in their natural habitat and more.

Our first of 3 1/2 days on safari in the Serengeti was a success. In addition to a variety of birds and cats (more photos in the next couple of days), we saw plenty of mammals. After sorting through hundreds of photos, here's a few that include a golden jackal, giraffe, lizard, hartebeest (standing atop a termite mound), elephants, hippopotamuses, Thompson & greater gazelles, water buffaloes (notice the yellow-billed oxpecker cleaning the ear of a buffalo) and more gazelles.

It's all in a day's game drive in Serengeti National Park!
