Keeping an Eye on the Turtles in Honeymoon Bay

Over 1/2 of the US Virgin Island of St. John is a national park, and over 40% of the park is actually underwater! A snorkeling excursion is an excellent way to explore the coral reefs to see fish, turtles and other marine life. Most cruise ships offer shore excursions via boat to one of the many beaches/bays including Salomon and Honeymoon. Once anchored, you have the choice of snorkeling or relaxing on the beach ... or both!

What's your favorite sea creature?

Although we usually go off exploring on our own, we reserved a shore excursion for our port day in Charlotte-Amalie, USVI. Since we have a mission to get to each of the US national parks, it seemed like the most sure way to get to Virgin Islands National Park. What an awesome day it was!

The group of us met at the port just after disembarking the cruise ship. We rode in an open air bus for transportation to the marina where we boarded a catamaran. Once we got out to the national park, we had the choice of snorkeling, relaxing on the beach ... or both! We spent most of our time snorkeling (I didn't want to leave the beautiful sea turtles), but also took a stroll on the beach. The bar opened up for our return to the cruise ship making the whole excursion a great one!

Do you enjoy seeing marine life?
