Finland | Helsinki | Baltic Cruise | Suomenlinna | Fortress | UNESCO | Ferry | Fortress
The ferry ride from the Market Square to Suomenlinna was fun, and brought us to one of the
highlights of our time in the Port of Helsinki. Construction of the fortress, which is only accessible
by water, began in 1748. We spent several hours wandering around and exploring the sea
fortress. It's hard to imagine what life would have been like here over 270 years ago!

Do you feel safer going where the crowds go when you travel, or do you like to go off on your
own?
Your travel group can be one of few who take the ferry to Suomenlinna while in Helsinki. There's
so much to see on the island that you couldn't see it all in one day. For those who enjoy
fortresses, it's definitely one to add to your list!
Would you go someplace like Suomenlinna if your group was the only one headed that way? #WordyExplorers #finland #helsinki #suomenlinna
