Exploring the Zoo with a View

We started our day at Taronga Zoo, Australia's largest zoo, aboard a short ferry ride from Circular Quay. In less than 15 minutes, we were walking toward the Sky Safari Cable Car to the zoo's entrance. We spent about 4 hours winding our way toward the lower exit through the 8 zoo geographic regions. The animals who call this zoo their home truly have some amazing views of the many famous sites in and around Sydney Harbour.

Do you enjoy visiting zoos when you travel?

I did love visiting zoos as a child, however, it seems that many of the zoos that we have visited as adults are quite similar to one another. We really haven't visited too many in the last 10 - 12 years, but when we spent time in Australia, we both wanted to see some animals! Our goal was to see the animals less common to zoos which we visited growing up - koalas, kangaroos, Tasmanian devils, echidnas, Komodo dragons, penguins and platypus. I definitely fell in love with the koalas at Taronga Zoo Syndey ... who couldn't love that face?
