Ever Wonder Where Roman Emperors Relaxed?

Just a short bus ride from the Civitavecchia Train Station is an archaeological site known as the Taurine Baths. Today the ruins, which include both hot and cold pools, changing rooms, massage rooms and even a library, can be explored on your own. (Make sure to look for the mosaics!) It is said that the Roman Emperors of years gone bye were frequent visitors to the baths.

What's one of your favorite forms of relaxing while on vacation?

Since we love soaking in hot tubs or hot springs, we often try to find either when we travel to a new place. In Civitavecchia (just outside of Rome and the port city for our upcoming cruise), we found two hot springs sites, with only one still in operation.

We started our day with a bus ride to the Taurine Baths. Today, it's an archaeological site that once operated as a thermal bath complex for Roman emperors. It was a quite an interesting place to explore on our own while imagining what it would have been like hundreds of years ago!

Have you ever visited an archaeological park?
