Portugal | Madeira | Funchal | Fajas de Cabo Girao | Cabo Girao | Cable Car | Teleferico do Rancho | Rancho Cable Car
What started as transportation for farmers became a tourist attraction! When Madeira's Rancho Cable Car first opened in 2003, it was farmers carrying their crops up from the vineyards who rode the teleferico. (Previously the terraced land known as Fajas de Cabo Girao was only accessible by boat.) Today, with a restaurant and bar at the Rancho Viewpoint on top and a beach with a coastal walking trail below, it's tourists who frequent the Rancho Cable Car.

Do you have any fears that prevent you from seeing or doing things when traveling?
We've traveled with people who have a fear of heights, and I'm confident they would refuse to ride the Teleferico do Rancho in Madeira. It connects a viewpoint referred to as "Rancho" above with the "Fajas de Cabo Girao" below. (Cabo Girao is said to be the tallest vertical drop cliff on the entire continent of Europe!)
Have you passed on a travel adventure because you just didn't think you could stomach it?
