The Lake Phuket Elephant Nursery, a sanctuary for elephants located in northern Phuket, offers a half day program where visitors spend most of their time interacting with the animals. After being transported from Phuket hotels, afternoon visitors start off with a Thai cooking class and lunch. Ingredients for a single dish are chopped and measured for each group allowing the class to limit their time away from visiting with the elephants. Once you've prepared your dish, choose the remaining foods for your Thai lunch from a set menu served buffet style.

Getting information from Norwegian Cruise Lines about where the Norwegian Jewel would dock in Phuket before the start of our cruise was painful (or should I say impossible). We were, however, able to make last minute changes to our pick-up place for an independent tour to the Lake Phuket Elephant Nursery. We started our visit by learning how to make a Thai salad. Even though Scott says he doesn't cook, he made an excellent salad for us to share - yum!
