3 Countries as Viewed Through a Magic Key Hole


    

While standing in Rome (country number 1) and peering through the Aventine Keyhole, you get a view of two more countries. Although it seems impossible, the keyhole perfectly frames the Vatican (a country in itself). Since the door on which the keyhole is located leads to the Piazza Knights of Malta, the row of bushes framing the dome are actually located in Malta (country number 3)!

Do you enjoy seeing off-beat treasures when traveling?

We saw one of the most unique while on a Hidden Treasures tour of Rome. Our guide lined the small group of us at the old wooden entrance door to the Piazza Knights of Malta located in Rome. Looking through the keyhole, the view is of three countries - Malta, the Vatican and, of course, Rome! (The courtyard of the Piazza Knights of Malta is actually sovereign territory of Malta.)

It was certainly a curious view from a curious location!
