Standing on the banks of the Danube River in Passau's Old Town, the Old Town Hall, New Town Hall and Old Main Customs Office make up the complex referred to as Passauer Rathaus by the local community. The Old Town Hall dates back to the year 1405 and the tower that stands today was completed in 1892. The tower's automatic carillon (bells) was installed almost 100 years later.

Our walking tour guide in Passau was the best so far on our Gate 1 Travel Danube River cruise. We enjoyed learning about and seeing the Town Hall of Passau including the flood markers which show the height of the floods that have impacted the town through the years.
Travel isn't always pretty. It isn't always comfortable. Sometimes it hurts, it even breaks your heart. But that's okay. The journey changes you; it should change you. It leaves marks on your memory, on your consciousness, on your heart, and on your body. You take something with you. Hopefully, you leave something good behind. - Anthony Bourdain
