Between touring the many antebellum homes in Natchez, we decided to check out one of the local
"spooking sites". The Turning Angel is located in the Natchez Cemetery. The angel got her name as it is
said that she turns her head to look at you while you drive past her on the road. Finding her takes a little
effort, but it is worth it - a little creepy, but worth it! Since we always analyze everything, we believe
that moving shadows at dusk make it appear that her head turns to look at you. At least we hope that's
it! (The angel was placed there to look over the graves of many employees of a local drug company that
died during a massive explosion in 1908.)

Do you enjoy visiting spooky or mysterious sites when you travel?
We are always intrigued by off the beaten path locations - and yes, even if they are said to be haunted or
mysterious! Following our visit, we usually try to come up with a logical explanation for why people think
the site is spooky ... sometimes we can, but sometimes we can't! After finding the Turning Angel statue
in Natchez, Mississippi, we aren't positive that we have figured out why it appears that she follows you as
you drive by!
