Strolling the Streets of Canada's Largest Chinatown

Vancouver is home to the third largest Chinatown in North America (behind New York and San Francisco). Located just east of Vancouver's downtown area, Canada's largest Chinatown was established nearly 140 years ago. Any visit to the city's Chinatown is sure to include some interesting history, amazing architecture, tasty dining options (dim sum, maybe?), souvenir shopping and the bright colors (red!) that you expect!

Where is your favorite "Chinatown"?

We devoted our first afternoon in Vancouver to exploring the nation's largest Chinatown district. It's always fun to see the unique architecture ... and, of course, enjoy a great meal!

Fun fact: The city's Chinese population of the early 1880's is credited with playing a significant role in the construction of the Trans-Canada railway. Today, the railway stretches from Vancouver all of the way east to Toronto.

Do you have a favorite Chinatown?
