Just over one mile from Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe's famous waterfall, a "Big Tree" stands almost 80 feet tall and is estimated to be approximately 1,200 years old. This African Baobab tree is believed to be both one of the oldest and largest trees of its variety anywhere in the world. A close look at the tree's trunk reveals that it is numerous stems that have grown together to form the tree's nearly 75 feet in circumference.

What was the location of the oldest tree that you've ever seen?
Because of its age and size, the African Baobab tree found near the Zambezi River in Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls is thought to be one of the most hearty "upside down trees" in all of the world. According to legend, the tree's nickname dates all of the way back to the earth's creation. The hyena was the last animal in line to receive a tree to plant. Angry that it was the baobab tree that he received, he planted it upside down!
