Land and Water Explorers Love Virgin Islands National Park

St. John, the smallest of the three main islands which make up the US Virgin Islands, is reachable only by water. In addition to a variety of snorkel and beach day trips or charters offered by both cruise lines and private operators, visitors can take a ferry or car barge to reach the island.

Scuba, snorkel, swim, sail or hike - how would you spend a day at Virgin Islands National Park?

The second of our three St. Thomas port day itineraries takes you to the nearby island of St. John. Virgin Islands National Park, one of the nation's 63 national parks, covers nearly two-thirds of the island. The park is most best known for water activities such as scuba diving, snorkeling, swimming, kayaking, windsurfing and, of course boating / sailing. But, the park is also home to more than 20 hiking trails for those who prefer exploring on land.

What recommendations do you have for anyone visiting St. John for the first time?
