There are so many websites available for making lodging reservations. From Airbnb to VRBO and Expedia or booking.com, the list goes on and on. Communication is the key between hosts (or hotel operators) and guests. When you send a message through the platform and don't get an answer (no matter how important the question is), it may be worth your time to look for other accommodations!

What's your worst lodging experience when traveling?
We weren't sure if we'd ever get to check in to our accommodations in Rome. The communication was extremely poor and there was a bag of laundry in the room when we finally were allowed inside after waiting for an hour outside! But, you gotta love the skeleton keys used in so many rooms in Rome!
