With a history dating back to 1650, the Wihara Dharma Sakti temple sits in Jakarta's Chinatown. Originally known as Koan Im Teng, the temple has changed names multiple times in its tenure. The structure that stands today was built in 1755 following the destruction of its predecessor during the Chinese massacre. The busiest days at the temple are during the Chinese New Year celebrations.

Social Media Description
We lucked out with our port day in Jakarta falling in the weeks just before the Chinese New Year. Our visit to the temple inside the city's Chinatown coincided with a "cleaning day". Much like "spring cleaning", each year during the weeks before the Lunar New Year, people clean their homes and also the statues in the temples where they worship.
