Measuring in at just over one acre, there's a tract of land in east Texas known as the "World's Richest Acre". An oil field discovered in 1930 that started production in 1937 soon grew into a block in downtown Kilgore that had more oil wells than any similar sized land mass in the world. Today, that same downtown block is home to a monument that includes the original derrick in recognition of the 1930s oil boom.

Social Media Description
We had driven by the "World's Richest Acre Park" in the past, but this was the first time that we actually stopped to learn some of the history.
And if travel is like love, it is, in the end, mostly because it's a heightened state of awareness, in which we are mindful, receptive, undimmed by familiarity and ready to be transformed. That is why the best trips, like the best love affairs, never really end. - Pico Iyer
