A flight on approach to Austin's Bergstrom International Airport gives some passengers a glimpse at the city's skyline. Measuring 58 stories tall, The Independent has been the tallest building in the city since its 2019 completion. Following closely behind in height are The Austonian and the Fairmont Austin. Sixth and Guadalupe, the building under construction at the corner of the intersection sharing the building's name, will be 66 stories tall upon completion.

Has the skyline of the city you now call home changed since you moved there?
When we fly into the Austin airport, I almost don't even recognize that we are nearing home. It is so hard to believe that this is the same city that I moved to in 1981 to attend college. When I started my professional career, I worked at one of the tallest buildings at the time - it had a whopping 15 floors. Now that building is dwarfed by the city's newest skyscrapers.
