Italy | Bologna | Piazza Maggiore | Basilica of San Petronio | Church | Cathedral | Dome | Chapel | Music Chapel | Organ
Bologna's most important church, the Basilica of San Petronio, is located in Piazza Maggiore. Construction on the cathedral was started in 1390 and, to this day, the building's facade is still unfinished! The Music Chapel of San Petronio dates back to 1436 and houses the world's oldest organ that is still in use today.

Our next stop was Piazza Maggiore, home of the Basilica of San Petronio and adjacent to Neptune's Square.
Fun fact: It is said that Pope Pius IV put a halt to construction plans that would have made the church larger than St. Peter's Basilica in Rome!
