The city of Catoosa, Oklahoma, home of the famous Blue Whale, is located just 14 miles northeast of Tulsa. This unique Route 66 roadside attraction was designed and built by a zoologist for his grandkids. After being under construction for two years, it opened in 1972. It is still popular fifty years late with people wanting to fish or to enjoy a picnic.
