Dating back to the Middle Ages, the Canale di Reno is one of five canals in Bologna still visible today. Finding the Reno Canal can be a little tricky, but it's not difficult if you have a bit of patience. Look for the "Canale di Reno" plaque near the "small window" (finestrella) in the walls of Via Piella. Push open the window and you'll have a view of the canal between the buildings. (The water level in the canal differs based on the time of year.)

Before leaving home, we learned about the "secret" Canals of Bologna. Once in Bologna, we realized that the canals are not really a secret - just like us, many other tourists were on the hunt to find them!
