Unique Church Setting Inside Budapest's Gellert Hill Cave

On the side of Gellert Hill on the "Buda" side of the Danube, find the cross and you'll know that you are near the entrance to the Cave Church. What started as a cave formed through erosion was enlarged to build a small chapel and then later a larger church. (It is believed that people lived in the cave beginning as early as the 800s and into the 1900s.) Today, the Cave Church is home to some unique features including a replica of the Black Madonna and some beautifully carved wood.
