Get Your Fresh Food Fix at Malaga's Mercado Central

Anyone staying in Malaga should plan a stop at the Mercado Central de Atarazanas. The Central Market is both a historic landmark dating back hundreds of years and a wonderful market filled with fresh foods. (The building originally housed a shipyard and later served as a military hospital before being converted to a market in the 19th century.) The market is open for browsing and buying six days a week (Monday - Saturday), but we have been told that you won't find fish for sale on Mondays. There's neither vending nor fishing on Sundays, so there's no fresh fish available for Monday market shoppers.
