Atop Mount Corcovado at Christ the Redeemer

The famous Christ the Redeemer statue stands tall atop Rio de Janeiro's Morro do Corcovado. The 98-foot tall art deco statue of Jesus Christ took over five years to complete. Opening to the world in 1931, the cross-shaped statue can be seen from miles around. Getting to the base of the statue is possible by train, car, official van or on foot. Upon reaching the top, the views of the city of Rio are amazing!

Happy Easter!

During our back-to-back cruises around South America in 2018, we had the opportunity to experience the best of Rio de Janeiro in 3 days. Our timing perfectly coincided with Carnival, so we even had the chance to be a spectator at the night time Carnival parades and also attend a street party.

Our days were filled seeing the sights of the city - including a ride up Mount Corcovado aboard the cog train. Once we reached the base of Christ the Redeemer, we stood in amazement at the statue's height as well as the beautiful panoramic views of the city below.

We wish you and yours a Happy Easter!
