Israel | Nazareth | Middle East | Holy Land | Church of St. Joseph | Church of Nutrition | Church of Joseph's Carpentry
Like other nearby churches, the Church of Saint Joseph was built on the remains of previous churches. Also known as the Church of Nutrition or the Church of St. Joseph's Carpentry, the structure which stands today was built in 1914. Below today's church are a series of caves thought to be the location of Joseph's carpentry workshop, his home and the newlywed home of Mary and Joseph. A stairway in today's church provides access to the caves.

Our travels through the Holy Land are at the top of our list. We have seen so many places that are thought to have been birthplaces or homes of recognizable persons from the Bible. During our time in Nazareth, one of the many interesting places was the Church of St. Joseph. It is thought that Joseph's carpentry workshop was in a cave below today's church.
