Although they are now very popular in Mexico and other areas within Latin America, churros are believed to have originated in Spain and Portugal. Often served in the afternoon with a cup of thick hot chocolate dipping sauce, the fried pastries are popular with both locals and tourists. You'll often see churros enjoyed at breakfast time as well - usually served with a cup of coffee (for drinking and dipping)!

The place that we had planned to visit for churros in Granada was closed when we arrived, so we found another nearby restaurant. Although the churros were not our favorite, the sangria was tasty and it was a nice break during our walk!
Once you have travelled, the voyage never ends, but is played out over and over again in the quietest chambers. The mind can never break off from the journey. - Pat Conroy
