In just 7 minutes (plus any time waiting to board), you can ride the funicular which ascends from the lakeside village of Como City to the hillside village of Brunate. The cable cars, in operation since 1894, make the journey in each direction every 30 minutes. The views along the way (through the clouds when the sky is less than clear) are enjoyable, but the panoramic views from the top of the city and lake below will take your breath away!

Almost immediately after stepping foot in Como City, we spotted the cable car that connects the city with Brunate, the hillside village above. We finally had a chance to take the round trip funicular ride (and because of the rain, we had no wait on either end)!
