Mt. Ranier, the namesake for Washington's Mount Ranier National Park, stands at a height of 14,410 feet above sea level. It was on March 2, 1899 that it joined the National Park Service as the country's fifth National Park. (In early 2014, the Washington State Senate temporarily renamed the mountain "Mount Seattle Seahawks" in celebration of the local team competing in the Super Bowl.) To this day, the mountain is still considered an active volcano.

Social Media Description

At the suggestion of our Airbnb host, we kicked our Day 14 off exploring more of the Longmire area of Mt. Ranier National Park. We wrapped up our second day at the park with a longer and more difficult hike to Carter Falls. As we were completing the hike, we saw blue skies overhead and we were rewarded with a clear view of Mt. Ranier - a memorable end to our visit!
