Washington | Olympic National Park | Hurricane Ridge | Columbian Black-Tailed Deer | Blacktail Deer | Hiking | Wildlife
Although both are regulars inside Olympic National Park, the Columbian Black-tailed Deer are much smaller than the Roosevelt Elk. While both freely roam around the park, black-tailed deer are more common and may be anywhere inside the park. Elk are usually found in the lower-elevations including valleys and rainforests. It's morning and evening when both animals are most active.

While hiking upon a trail in Hurricane Ridge at Olympic National Park, we came upon this black-tailed deer. Not sure why (since we have plenty of deer near our home), but we got so excited!
