There's so much history in Munich that is walking distance from the grounds where Oktoberfest is celebrated each year. St. Paul's Catholic Church (Paulskirche) was completed in 1906 with the church's tower overlooking the Wiesn. Many climb to the top for one of the best views of the goings-on during the annual event. Nearby is also the Bavarian Ministry of Justice and Karlsplatz (with Karlstor, one of the three city gates that are still standing). All of these historical structures are also a short walk from the city's main train station.

Social Media Description

After two full days in Munich, we finally made it to the historical downtown area for a just a quick taste of some of the city's history. We didn't have time to climb St. Paul's Catholic Church (Paulskirche) but we did walk around the interior. We also made quick stops to see Justizpalast and Karlsplatz. Getting around on public transportation is oh so easy!
